Routine

Brennan had his routine annual MRI last week.

Brennan had his routine annual appointment with his neurosurgeon.

Both appointments were so very routine.

Here's a breakdown of what we heard/learned/etc.

No changes.  Meaning no tumor growing.

The doctor said that since he had a very low grade tumor and since there has been no re-growth after four years there is a good chance that he did get it all.

If next year's MRI also shows nothing, Brennan will only need an MRI every two years.

He still has a hole in his noggin.  Too be expected.  Brains don't just grow back like a cut off lizard tail.  The hole looks bigger when I see it on the computer image of his MRI than I think it really is.  It's not like we can hear a rattle sound or something like the sound of an ocean like you would expect from a big sea shell.

Before we think about reducing Brennan's anti-seizure meds he should have an EEG that shows no spikes.

If we are thinking of changing or even stopping Brennan's anti-seizure meds we should think about doing it before he turns 15ish and starts thinking about driving.

Brennan can blame his difficulties with handwriting on the part of his brain that was affected.  We were given a little more information finding out more about what Brennan's tumor and subsequent hole might affect.  I'm looking forward to finding out more about what makes the kid tick.

The brain surgery in no way affected Brennan's hair and was not the reason it has recently become curly.

We can get Brennan to do almost anything if he thinks he's getting Cheetos's after...like behave at a doctor's appointment.

When we come home from a very routine visit with a neurosurgeon I feel like celebrating and that means homemade cherry pie.
